Samsung has stopped selling the original S21 family, but the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE offers similar hardware for slightly less. It has a large, 6.4-inch OLED screen, as well as a Snapdragon 888 processor, the same kind that was in every flagship phone last year. However, the $700 asking price makes it only $100 less than the Galaxy S23, which runs faster, offers better build quality, and will receive updates more frequently. The Pixel 7, meanwhile, costs $100 less and provides a better software experience and superior camera performance.

The best Samsung tablets are top-tier Android tablets that are well-designed, perform well, and last a long time on a single charge. They also tend to come with Samsung apps and technologies that improve on the stock Android tablet experience, which is a rarity in the world of Android devices.

The Galaxy Tab S8 is good at a lot of things, but it's best at being a general-purpose Android tablet. You can use it to get work done in a pinch, but in my experience it's best enjoyed as a speedy all-purpose device for making work and play a bit more enjoyable. On the couch, it's great for gaming or reading comics, and at work it's nice to have as a note-keeping device or secondary display, especially if you go to the trouble of investing in the Galaxy ecosystem and making your workspace DeX-friendly.

Sometimes you just want a decent tablet at a cheap price. Maybe you want a lightweight second screen to keep by the couch for idle IMDB-surfing, or perhaps you want a cheap tablet you can give to a child without worrying too much about the cost of replacing it. For all these needs and more, Samsung's Galaxy Tab A7 Lite is a great choice.

After spending a few weeks testing and using the A7 Lite I can confidently tell you it's far from the best Samsung tablet on the market. But it is quite a handy little device that's well worth your consideration if you need a capable Android tablet for not a lot of money.

Are you mainly going to be consuming content? All of these tablets are great at that, with the possible exception of the Tab S8 Ultra (since it's so massive it can be a pain to hold in your hands for long periods), so pick the model with the mix of price and specs you like most.

Many tablet fans love the best Android tablets for their ability to side-load apps and ability to handle games better. So, while Apple's own portables are popular, these Android-powered devices are lauded for these unique strengths. That's on top of the range of sizes, features, and use cases that allow them to cater to different types of users.

Of course, with all the choices on the market, it's vital to be even more discerning when it comes to picking the best tablet for you. You also have your daily needs and budget to consider, to ensure that you're getting your money's worth, whichever device you end up with.

After all, while Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra may top our list, we also have options for those seeking one of the best cheap tablets. We also included some mid-range picks from brands like Xiaomi, Realme, and Honor.

Of course, if you change your made and want an iPadOS-powered device instead, our picks of the best iPads should help. If you're sticking with Android, take a look at our guide of the best Android tablets below, complete with each device's pros and cons, along with who its best suited for.

It might not be the best of the bunch for Android tablets but the Amazon Fire HD 10 Plus (2021) has a lot going for it thanks to its attractive 10.1-inch display with a 1920 x 1200 resolution. That means it's ideal for watching your favorite movies or shows, especially as we also found that it manages around 12 hours of battery life, so you won't run out of juice at a pivotal moment.

In our review, we were also fairly impressed with the speakers for the money, so this is a capable budget media machine. Storage is limited at either 32GB or 64GB and we'd like speedier performance in an ideal world, as the chipset was a little bit dated even at launch, but at this price, it's not bad at all.

Happy to sacrifice a few of the features of the Galaxy Tab S6 in trade for a cheaper tablet? If yes, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite could be the best Android tablet for you. The chipset isn't as powerful as its sibling, the cameras aren't as impressive, and the screen isn't as beautiful... but it's around half the price, and all of its specs are still quite impressive for a slate at this price.

The Amazon Fire HD 10 (2021) isn't the speediest tablet, but at a low price it creeps onto our best Android tablets list for good reason. For the price, you get a good quality and large screen with a 1920 x 1200 resolution, which we found was ideal for watching films or your favorite YouTube videos.

Size and price are the two biggest considerations when buying a tablet. Consider whether you want the biggest screen possible - which is great for media and productivity, or something smaller and therefore more portable.

Many of today's best tablets are powerful enough to be excellent laptop alternatives. And those that aren't as powerful are still very capable of seeing you through general work-related tasks like sending out emails and typing up important documents or lighter creative workloads like drawing and design, thanks to their stylus support.

Whether you're looking for one of the best iPads or one of the best Android tablets, you'll get a lot out of that tablet you're getting. And, because these devices give you all the benefits of a touchscreen without making you pay a premium for the feature, you've got a portable that's extremely versatile but not as expensive as, say, some of the best 2-in-1 laptops.

Of course, it would be unwise to simply go out and get the priciest model you can afford. The iPad Pro, for example, might the the most powerful iPadOS-powered device, but it might be that what you need is an iPad Air, which means you'll be saving money and getting exactly the tablet that's ideal for you. Or, it might be that all you really need is one of the best cheap tablets.

The list is updated regularly, thanks to new tablets coming out all the time, so check back often to see what's changed. This may also be the time to pick up one of the best power banks too, to keep you juiced up all day long.

There's an all-body display, M1 chipset, Apple Pencil compatibility and long-lasting battery. Oh, and of course it runs on Apple's iPadOS which is a supremely useful tablet operating system. On test, its performance is very close to the iPad Pro range, which is impressive when you consider its list price.

This is one of the best tablets we've tested, and the iPad Pro and Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra only beat it in a few ways, like with their bigger screens, extra storage space and high-res displays. But if you don't have the money to stretch for those two premium tabs, this mid-range alternative could be great for you.

When choosing a tablet, the first thing you'll need to decide is how much you want to do with it. Will it be an extra device for entertainment and productivity, or will it replace a laptop as a main computing device? Today's tablets can certainly handle all of the tasks of a basic laptop. Then you'll need to decide on your price range, because tablets can range from cheap budget devices to very expensive cutting edge portables, far more expensive than the laptops they replace. Finally, it would be helpful to choose between an Apple iPad OS tablet and an Android device, based on the services and software you prefer.

Every tablet on this list has been thoroughly tested and put through a comprehensive review, so we know exactly what makes them tick and how they compare. From there, we've ranked them based on our findings, factoring in their price and value too.
